Abanndranath's landscapes were often painted as an aftermath of his travels. They were not painted on location but were expressions of his memory and his impressions of the spirit of the place. The technique he used was influenced by the work of his contemporary Japanese artists. He would create a colouristic yet hazy effect. This could be a scene from his Darjeeling travels or from his travel to Mussoorie. There exist paintings done in the same vein in the mid 20's of the twentieth century.
