The large number of sketches and drawings in the NGMA collection give evidence of the distinctive way in which Jamini Roy structured his figures. Each figure is created by assembling a set of body parts which are broken down into simple forms only to be reclaimed as a whole as can be seen in this sketch of a horse. Both the human figure and the horse is made of oval forms. There is a hint of a border along the top margin composed of geometric motifs.
