    Nandalal Bose

Album No. - 4 (Landscapes) 7117 Nandalal Bose Pencil on postcard

×
Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching and drawing, instantly recording in the post card sized papers his subjects from the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life, animals, flora and fauna or anything that he found fascinating. The drawings complete in themselves were his vivid observations of the characteristics and attributes of subjects chosen from his immediate surroundings. The present pencil drawing is a port scene with boats docked together, an enormous mill with its towers in the vicinity and flocks of seagulls in the air. The artist has amalgamated the elements of nature with that of the industrial area. Nandalal himself in his book, 'On Art' has written- "Nature is life itself and teeming always with infinite variety; it is in her that the artist always renews his experience and finds an unceasing flow of inspiration."
