Nandalal, in his sketches, experimented with the use of lines to add texture, vigour and life to his sketches. In this sketch, he portrays a defunct streamer placed at Banipur, which used to sail to Sunderban, as the inscription suggests. Rendered in quick and subtle contouring lines that bring out the corporeality of the forms and add life and vitality to the composition.
