Nandalal is known to have fervently sketched on postcard sized papers mostly using ink and brush, recording his surroundings. In the above sketch the artist has depicted a seated lion in profile. The composition is rendered with thick, bold pencil strokes defining the stiff structure of the lion and suggesting its demeanour.
