Album No. 5 (Sculpture Studies) 7148 Nandalal Bose Pencil on postcard

×
Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings, animals or anything that he found fascinating. The above sketch by the artist is a perceptible representation of a kneeling female figure, probably located along the stairs of a temple in Gaya, Bihar. The composition is rendered with thick, bold pencil strokes delineating the contours and suggesting the detail in the sculpture.
