Album No. 12 (A Landscape) 7240 Nandalal Bose Pencil on postcard

×
Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In the above monochrome illustration, he has depicted a village scene where three men are making jaggery from the nectar of date palm. The use of bold, sharp lines for the contours and soft strokes for the textures of the forms adds vitality to the composition.
