Nandalal, in his sketches, experimented with the representation of lines to attain texture and add vigour and life to the form of his figures. This sketch portrays a human figure in a seated position on the floor from the back, rendered in quick and subtle contouring lines. The fluid handling of the line and the dark ink strokes suggest the modelling of the body, sparing much detail.
