Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In the above sketch the artist has rendered the back side of a sitar player. The lean structure of the player is executed with fine, linear pen strokes articulating the contours and suggesting his demeanour.
