    Nandalal Bose

A Sketch from Album No. 21 7441 Nandalal Bose Pencil on postcard

×
Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings and animals. Often the sketches were small in scale although invigorating with the rich detailing of the artist's observations. This sketch by Nandalal is one such detailed study of a grasshopper. Besides a rough drawing of its structure, he has also scribbled notes about its anatomy, such as structure and colour.
