    Nandalal Bose

A Sketch from Album No. 23 7477 Nandalal Bose Ink on postcard

×
Nandalal employed artisans and craftsmen from Faizpur (Maharashtra) during the Congress convention in 1937, to construct gates and temporary structures using only local materials, such as bamboo, wood, and hay. This postcard shows, in light and fluid outlines, the podium among the decorated bamboo staves at the site. Nandalal applies Sino-Japanese brushwork techniques and enhances the sketch by making use of the translucent quality of ink to its fullest.
