Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this watercolour sketch, he has depicted a scene of a ?Dandi March Satyagraha? by Gandhi Ji in Tithal (Gujarat) where people are walking with Gandhi amid a deserted path. Executed with light washes of colours in tonal variation defining the contours of the figures and bringing out the corporeality to the subject.
