Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch he has depicted two men milking a goat in a village site of Tithal in Gujarat. This has been rendered in short, linear strokes of pen and ink in tonal variation delineating the forms and demeanour of the subject.
