Nandalal's exploration of the different ways of delineating a line allowed him to experiment with its varying forms adding rhythm, vigour and life to the form of the figures. The above monochrome sketch depicts two passengers waiting at the railway station with their luggage. The artist has executed the composition with bold, ink and pencil strokes to define the contours and demeanour of the subject. The trees in the background are rendered with spiral ink strokes adding dynamism to the composition.
