Nandalal's drawings on postcards are spontaneous done either with pen or a brush, the aim was simply to capture the subject and the moment. The above monochrome sketch by the artist depicts a bunch of trees with a train passing by in the background, rendered with dark, firm pencil strokes. Nandalal's urge to portray his surrounding is apparent in his sketches.
