Nandalal's drawings on postcards are spontaneous done either with pen or brush. He understood the significance of the use of lines and experimented frequently in their execution from fine lines to thick contouring lines. The above illustration by Nandalal depicts a landscape rendered with coarse, pencil strokes shaded with orange pastel that delineate the contours of the forms.
