This postcard shows a sketch of a lotus scroll, probably from the base, plinth or column of a temple. It is a quick observation study with pencil. Nandalal in his book 'On Art' writes, "The form of lotus gets modified according to the material the artist has to work upon, and hence the remarkable variety of its design."
