This image, of a flock of five storks in a swampy area is a quick sketch executed with watercolour and broad, sweeping strokes by the artist. The intent not being to illustrate detail, but to capture a fleeting moment with the birds in water, in a minimalist manner. The suggestions of ripples and the shadows in them gives it an ephemeral quality. The slight variations in their expressions lend variety to the otherwise identical and uniform poses.
