Nandalal was a great admirer of Gandhi and had made several sketches and prints of him. In this particular line drawing, he has rendered a portrait of Gandhi in a sitting posture. The fluid handling of the brush and its strong delineation in the calligraphic style defines the soft contours of the iconic figure of India's freedom struggle.
