Nandalal's small sketches are testimony of his keen observation and empathy for the environment in which he lived. In this particular sketch, he has rendered a dog sprawled on the floor, executed in dark, calligraphic brush strokes that delineate the fine contours of its form while the small brush strokes suggest the modelling of its body.
