Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings, animals or anything that he found fascinating. In the above postcard, Nandalal has rendered a landscape, in soft brisk strokes. The dark smudged strokes give a textured rendition to the trunks of the trees and the calligraphic brush strokes depict the land.
