The blurring of the linear outlines of figures and the harmonious dilution of colours were techniques Nandalal acquired from the arts of the Far East. In the above postcard, Nandalal has rendered a landscape. The dark smudged strokes give a textured rendition to the trunks of the trees and convey the impression of light and shade in the composition.
