Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this postcard sketch, he has depicted a group of local men, engaged in winnowing. The sketch has been rendered in fluid strokes that suggest the modelling of the slender male bodies and add life and vitality to the composition.
