Nandalal is known to have fervently sketched on postcard sized papers, recording his surroundings. His small sketches vastly vary in detailing, some drawn quickly with just a few lines, others executed with more elaborate characteristics from an analytical perspective. In the postcard above, Nandalal has rendered a landscape, in soft brisk strokes. The dark smudged strokes give a textured rendition to the trunks of the trees while shading depicts the play of light and shade on the hills.
