Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings and animals. In this postcard sketch, Nandalal portrays a bullock cart in the foreground, rendered in sweeping brush strokes. The dabs and dashes of watercolour bring out the forms of trees and plants, adding life and rhythm to the composition.
