Nandalal Bose closely studied the ancient and folk art and craft traditions of India. In the above drawing, Nandalal illustrates a floral design pattern in pencil, pen and ink. His exploration of the different ways of delineating a line allowed him to experiment in representation of lines in its varying forms adding rhythm, vigour and life to the elements of the composition.
