    Nandalal Bose

A Sketch from Album No. 45 8165 Nandalal Bose Pen, ink & pencil on card

×
Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching and drawing, instantly recording in the postcard sized papers his subjects from the surrounding environs, people in everyday life, animals, flora and fauna or anything that he found fascinating. The above monochrome sketch is a quick study of a traditional ploughing method of cultivation. The composition is swiftly executed in repetitive, fluid pencil strokes that suggest the modelling of the forms and add rhythm and dynamism to the composition.
