A Sketch from Album No. 46 8193 Nandalal Bose Pencil on paper

×
Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings and animals. Generally the sketches are small in scale although invigorating with the rich detailing of the artist's observations, experiences and sojourns to various places. In this sketch he has used loose strokes, outlines and shading to achieve the detailed study of a seated calf. He has also explored the anatomical details of its front and hind legs.
