Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, nature, landscapes, figure drawings and animals. In this particular drawing, Nandalal studies in detail the contours of a plant commonly known as 'Kumro' in Bengali, with its stems and leaves rendered in soft, smudged strokes.
