Nandalal's exploration of the different ways of delineating a line allowed him to experiment with its varying forms adding rhythm, vigour and life to the form of his figures. In this sketch he has used loose strokes, outlines and shading to achieve the detailed study of a Tortoise. He has also studied the head from different angles in two template sketches on the side.
