Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, nature, landscapes, figure drawings and animals. Nandalal in this sketch depicts a detailed sketch of a rooster, carefully rendered in deep, dark outlines, defining its characteristic features. Swift, short strokes have been used to depict the depth to the form. He has also studied the leg of the rooster, in a template sketch on the side.
