A Sketch from Album No. 47 8231 Nandalal Bose Pen and ink and pencil on postcard

×
Nandalal preferred drawing from life often sketching outdoors, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings and animals. Though the sketches were small in scale they were invigorated with the rich detailing of the artist's observations, experiences and sojourns to various places. This drawing of a village scene focuses on a bullock cart, driven by an old man accompanied by two ladies sitting behind. The hills in the far distance and the cart in the foreground give a serene description of the rural settlement. The left panel of the postcard bears an inscription, which seems to be a letter written in Bengali, unaddressed, talking about a certain unknown painting, about its size and other events related to it.
