Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. This sketch shows a man carrying a basket across his head up a tree laden slope. Though the strokes are hurried, they accentuate the vigour and strength of the man.
