Nandalal portrays in this monochrome watercolour painting, a man asking for alms, wrapped under a thick blanket. The easy and bold use of the brush depicts the male figure with few strokes. The distressed emotion on the man's face is clearly visible even under the thick dabs of colour. The tonal variation of the colour portrays the play of chiaroscuro over the heavily draped figure.
