Nandalal understood the significance of the use of lines and experimented frequently in their execution. This postcard shows a self portrait of Nandalal, drawn with thick contouring lines and executed in a calligraphic fashion adding vigour and grace to the portrait. The fluid handling of the line and its strong delineation in his works was the influence of Far Eastern art practices.
