Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings and animals. In the above sketch the artist has depicted the traditional method of extracting oil with a bullock powered oil press. The process has been rendered with linear, bold ink strokes articulating the contours and documenting the activity.
