Nandalal is known to have fervently sketched on postcard sized papers mostly using ink and brush, recording his surroundings. The above sketch by the artist depicts an old man walking with a stick, rendered with bold, fluid pencil strokes, articulating the contours and accentuating the fragility of the form. The artist has also rendered a quick study of the subject's posture on the side.
