Nandalal is known to have fervently sketched on postcard sized papers mostly using ink and brush, recording his surroundings. The above study sketch by the artist depicts an old man in various profiles and eyes along the upper margin, rendered with bold, fluid pencil strokes, articulating the contours and accentuating the fragility of the form.
