    Nandalal Bose

A Sketch from Album No. 61 8590 Nandalal Bose Ink & pencil on postcard.

×
Nandalal's exploration of the different ways of delineating a line allowed him to experiment with its varying forms, adding rhythm, vigour and life to the form of the figures. In this sketch, a man, possibly a fisherman, uses his forest axe to scrape a log of wood. The fluid handling of the line and its depiction in the calligraphic style lends a rhythm to the body of the figure.
