    Nandalal Bose

A Sketch from Album No. 61 8596 Nandalal Bose Ink & pencil on postcard.

×
Nandalal's exploration of the different ways of delineating a line allowed him to experiment with its varying forms adding rhythm, vigour and life to the form of the figures. The above painting shows a local woman possibly belonging to the Nulia tribe, carrying pitchers and a long pole in her hands, standing at the seashore. The artist uses a series of diverse tones to render the serene seascape while the fluid brush strokes delineate the contours of the woman's slender body.
