Nandalal persistently undertook the study of the brushwork practised by the artists from the Eastern and the Western world. In this postcard, he renders the sketch of an old Nulia fisherman walking with a child on the seashore of Gopalpur. The sweeping brush strokes create tonal variations while the dark, thick lines depict the emaciated body of the old fisherman.
