A Sketch from Album No. 62 8633 Nandalal Bose Watercolour on postcard

×
Nandalal persistently undertook the study of a variety of brushwork practiced by the artists from Eastern and the Western world. His rendezvous with international artists visiting Santiniketan and his own visits to other countries provided opportunities to understand the subtle nuances of each craft and the bold platform to enrich his vision and innovate at the same time. In this particular monochromatic sketch, the artist illustrates a small herd of pigs wandering in a vast flatland suggested by sweeping brush strokes and diligently used dabs and dashes. Nandalal Bose in his book, 'On Art' writes- "Nature is life itself and teeming always with infinite variety; it is in her that the artist always renews his experience and finds an unceasing flow of inspiration."
