    Nandalal Bose

A Sketch from Album No. 64 8663 Nandalal Bose Pen and ink on paper

×
Nandalal Bose is known to have fervently sketched on postcard sized papers mostly using pen and ink, recording his surroundings. In this particular drawing, Nandalal renders a portrait of the freedom fighter Abdul Ghaffar Khan, or 'Frontier Gandhi' as he was known, in profile in quick strokes. This is among several sketches and a lino-cut that Nandalal is known to have made of him, along with other figures of the Indian freedom movement he immortalised thus.
