The blurring of the linear outlines of figures and the harmonious dilution of colours were techniques Nandalal acquired from the arts of the Far East. In this painting, his fluid handling of the line and its strong delineation in the calligraphic style gives a textured rendition to the trunks of the trees while the sweeping brush strokes depict the landscape.
