Nandalal was adept in the use of Chinese and Japanese brush techniques and could render an entire composition using the tonal variations of black ink. He has here made a quick rendition of a seascape in monochromatic tones. Nandalal portrays a man on the seashore in linear strokes, contrasting them to the calligraphic strokes depicting the waves.
