Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings, animals and birds or anything that he found fascinating. This particular sketch illustrates a woman, probably after her bath. Her curvaceous body is manifested through the fluid handling of line which adds grace and sensuality to the subject. The sublime expression of the woman is particularly well represented.
