Nandalal has here rendered a lotus flower and its bud with a soft wash of ink that has been applied with a sweeping brush, a technique he acquired from the arts of the Far-East. The dark, fluid calligraphic lines delineate the fine contours which convey the delicacy of its petals and bud.
