Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. Here he portrays a cow and a bird, rendered in loose strokes that delineate the contours of the forms and suggest their modelling, resulting in the realistic representation of the animals.
