Nandalal in his artistic career sketched fervently with either pen or brush, subjects ranging from mythic and religious themes to nature and social reality. The above monochrome sketch by the artist depicts nandagopal, a Hindu deity, executed with linear, thick ink strokes marked over the pencil lines, although the handling is both fluid and firm.
