Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings and animals. The above monochrome sketch by the artist depicts a woman carrying pots. There is also a line drawing of the stance of the woman, with its measuring proportion. The illustration is rendered with bold, fluid ink strokes and the calligraphic style adding vigour and dynamism to the composition.
